Imagine your brain has specific spots that control your mood, memory and pain. At BrainAid Clinics, we use neuronavigation — like a GPS for your brain — to find exactly the right spot to stimulate. And we don’t stop there. Our TMF Program combines Thought, Movement and Food to support your brain from the inside out.
Every brain is different. Every target must be too.
Your brain has specific regions that control mood, memory, pain and emotion. When we stimulate the wrong spot — even by a centimetre — we’re working on the wrong circuit.
That’s why we use your MRI. We map your individual brain before treatment starts and navigate the coil to the exact right place — tracked live. That’s the difference between proximity and precision.
When medications haven’t worked. We target the exact prefrontal circuit — not an estimate.
TGA Approved
PTSD & Anxiety
Calming overactive fear circuits. Protocol chosen individually based on your symptoms.
Off-Label
Chronic Pain
Pain lives in the brain as much as the body. Motor cortex or prefrontal — we choose based on your pain type.
Off-Label
Brain Fog & Cognitive Fatigue
Targeted stimulation to wake up underactive frontal circuits — restoring clarity and focus.
Off-Label
tDCS — At Home
Gentler stimulation, clinician-programmed and monitored. Available as a home-based option.
Investigational
Off-label and investigational treatments offered under psychiatrist oversight with full informed consent. Full details →
Working with the best:
The Journey
Simple steps to getting started.
Get a Referral
Ask your GP or psychiatrist. Required for Medicare eligibility under MBS 14217. Our team can support you in obtaining one if needed.
1
Psychiatry Assessment
Meet our psychiatrist to confirm suitability and design your personalised treatment plan. No two plans are the same.
2
Brain MRI
Required before treatment begins. Your MRI enables our neuronavigation system to map your exact brain anatomy — so we stimulate the right circuit, not an estimate.
3
Begin Treatment
Sessions run approximately 20–40 minutes. No sedation. No medication. You’re awake throughout and can leave immediately after.
4
Track & Report
Throughout treatment, validated questionnaires (PHQ-9, GAD-7, DASS-10, DUKE) are completed every ~10 days. Your GP or psychiatrist receives structured reports at each milestone.
Brain change doesn’t happen in isolation. Our TMF Program runs alongside every course of treatment — because lasting recovery needs more than a signal sent to one region.
Our philosophy
“Lasting change happens when science meets lifestyle.”
Psychological support and cognitive strategies that work in sync with the brain changes treatment initiates.
T
Movement
Structured physical activity that amplifies neuroplasticity — one of the most powerful brain stimulants available.
M
Food
Nutritional guidance tailored to brain health — reducing inflammation, supporting neurotransmitters, stabilising mood.
F
Also Available
tDCS — brain stimulation at home.
tDCS delivers a gentle electrical current to specific brain regions, modulating how easily neurons fire. Unlike rTMS, it doesn’t directly trigger neural firing — making it a softer, complementary tool. At BrainAid Clinics, tDCS is offered under psychiatrist oversight with the option of home-based sessions using a clinician-programmed device.
Painless and well-tolerated. No sedation required.
Home or clinic
Clinician-programmed device with remote monitoring.
Investigational
Off-label. Offered under psychiatrist oversight with full informed consent.
Common Questions
Your questions, answered.
No obligation, no pressure. If you don’t find your answer here, our team is happy to talk. Ask us anything →
Does rTMS hurt?
rTMS is non-invasive and well-tolerated. You may feel a gentle tapping on your scalp and hear a clicking sound — both normal. Some patients experience mild scalp discomfort in early sessions, which settles quickly. Most people find it far more comfortable than expected.
Am I eligible for Medicare?
Medicare rebates are available for treatment-resistant depression under MBS 14217. You generally need to have trialled two or more antidepressants without adequate response, plus a referral from a GP or psychiatrist. Our team will help clarify your eligibility at your first consultation.
Do I need a referral?
A referral from a GP or psychiatrist is required for Medicare-funded rTMS. If you’d prefer to speak with us first to learn more, you’re very welcome — our team can support you in obtaining a referral if needed.
Is rTMS used for chronic pain?
Yes — rTMS is applied at BrainAid Clinics for chronic pain including fibromyalgia, CRPS and neuropathic pain. This is an off-label use, not TGA-approved for pain and not Medicare-rebatable for these indications. All pain patients receive full informed consent and psychiatrist oversight before commencing.
Can I drive after a session?
Yes. rTMS requires no sedation or anaesthesia. You can drive and return to all normal activities immediately after each session.
How is BrainAid different from other TMS clinics?
We use neuronavigation — your own MRI — to map and target your brain precisely. Standard rTMS uses a scalp estimate that can miss the target by up to 20mm. We also combine treatment with our TMF Program (Thought, Movement, Food) and track your progress throughout using validated questionnaires, sending reports to your treating clinician.
